The Port of Tampa is located in Centeral Florida along the Western Gulf coast. The port serves ships from Royal Caribbean and Carnaval. Due to it's gulf location, cruises leaving here have a distance advantage in the Western Caribbean and disadvantage for locations in the Eastern Caribbean. Due to the clearance of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, Tampa is only accessable to the smaller cruise ships.
Flying in: Passengers that fly in typically come from Tampa International or St. Petersburg-Clearwater International airports; however Orlando International is only an hour's drive. Unless you are coming from the Orlando area, the airports are within easy taxi distance to the terminal.
Driving: There are not a lot of hotel Park-And-Cruise operations in Tampa. The only notable one being the Hamption Inn near the Tampa airport. Parking at the cruise terminal varies between $14 and $20 per night, but there are usually ample parking spots. And the parking garages are usually secured pretty well, and are only open during the days the cruise ships are in port.
Area Attractions: Immediately adjacent to the cruise port is the Tampa Aquarium and the SS American Victory Museum ship. And depending on how you got to Tampa, don't forget that Orlando is a mere hour's drive to the west, with all of those attractions...
